Getting to Jura

George Orwell once called Jura ‘an extremely unget-at-able’ place, but we’re pleased to say that it is a little bit easier to reach the island these days.

You can travel to Jura via Islay on scheduled ferries and flights all year round, or sail direct to the island on the Jura Passenger Ferry (summer only) or by private water taxi.

Direct to Jura

The community-run Jura Passenger Ferry runs between Tayvallich on the mainland and Craighouse on Jura during the summer months. The crossing takes just under 1 hour pier to pier and you will land 500m from Gealach Lan.

Private water taxis are also available throughout the year. Please contact us for details.
